Tean Thor people
The team at Tean Thor comes from a range of backgrounds and experiences. What they share is energy and commitment to fighting HIV / AIDS in the communes around Battambang and improving the lives of people living with AIDS and their families. Tean Thor is also supported by a number of advisors and volunteers that make our work possible and allow us to reach more people.

Ky Lok, Executive Director
Whilst working on the Thai / Khmer border with handicapped people, Ky Lok realised that something needed to be done for the great number of people in Cambodia who were going without the basic support they needed and the affect this was having on wider society. On his return to Battambang, Ky Lok took up a position working with World Vision, an experience that enabled and led him to setup Tean Thor with a specific aim of working in rural communes that other NGOs couldn't reach. As Tean Thor focussed on HIV / AIDS care, Ky Lok believed that affective action against HIV / AIDS could only be achieved through an integrated approach of community outreach programs, relationship building and support for all those affected by HIV / AIDS. For Ky Lok, the most important part of his work is enabling people to fulfil the potential in their lives and is most happy when he sees people overcoming their fear and seeking help. |

Preap Ponloik, Kru Khmer
Producing traditional Cambodian medicines to combat the symptoms of AIDS is an art that Ponloik learnt through his family whilst he was a farmer. Today, he is able to collect the raw materials and produce different medicines depending on each persons needs. Kru Khmer can be used where modern approaches don't work and are also very cheap so can be used by those who would not otherwise be able to afford medicine. |
